Visas for International Visitors – Uluru 2027

We warmly welcome our Sahaja Yoga brothers and sisters from around the world who are planning to join us in Australia for Shri MahaGanesha Puja at Uluru, from Friday 3 to Monday 6 September 2027.

If you are travelling to Australia from overseas, please make sure you have the appropriate Australian visa or travel authority before you travel.

Do I need a visa to visit Australia?

Unless you are an Australian citizen, you will generally need an appropriate visa or travel authority to enter Australia.

The type of visa you require will depend on factors including your passport, nationality and circumstances. Australia has several visitor visa arrangements, including:

Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) – subclass 601
Available to eligible passport holders for tourism and other permitted visitor activities.

eVisitor – subclass 651
Available to passport holders from certain countries. It allows eligible visitors to travel to Australia for tourism and other permitted visitor activities for up to three months at a time during its 12-month validity period.

Visitor Visa – subclass 600 (Tourist stream)
For visitors who are not eligible for an ETA or eVisitor, or whose circumstances require a different visitor visa. Depending on the visa granted, stays of 3, 6 or 12 months may be available.

Your Australian visa is normally electronically linked to your passport, so a physical visa label is generally not placed in your passport.

Please rely on the Australian Government website rather than unofficial visa websites or information found through general internet searches.

Apply well before travelling

We strongly recommend arranging your visa well in advance of your intended travel dates.

Processing times can vary depending on the visa, your country of application and your individual circumstances. Some applicants may also be asked to provide additional documents, health examinations or information relating to Australia’s character requirements.

When applying, make sure that:

  • your passport is valid;
  • your name and personal details exactly match your passport;
  • you provide all documents requested;
  • you clearly explain the purpose and plans for your visit to Australia; and
  • you respond promptly if the Department of Home Affairs requests further information.

The Department of Home Affairs advises applicants to provide complete and accurate information to help avoid unnecessary delays.

Your purpose of visit

International participants travelling to Australia to attend Shri MahaGanesha Puja at Uluru will generally be visiting Australia temporarily.

Visitor visas are intended for genuine temporary visitors and do not provide permission to undertake paid work in Australia.

If you are also joining the Realise Alice Springs Tour – Music & Meditation in Central Australia, 4th to 9th September 2027, you can include the Alice Springs and Uluru components when describing your proposed Australian itinerary.

Before booking your flights

Where possible, consider your visa requirements before making non-refundable travel arrangements.

In particular, if you need to make a visa application, allow sufficient time for it to be assessed. For the eVisitor visa, the Department of Home Affairs specifically advises applicants not to arrange travel until they have been notified in writing that their visa has been granted.

Passport details

Your Australian visa is electronically linked to the passport used for your visa application.

If you obtain a new passport after your visa has been granted, check with the Department of Home Affairs about updating your passport details before travelling.

Health and travel insurance

Australia has health requirements for visa applicants, and in some circumstances you may be required to undertake health examinations.

We also strongly recommend that international visitors arrange appropriate travel and medical insurance for their entire stay in Australia, including cover for medical treatment, cancellations and unexpected changes to travel arrangements.

This is particularly worth considering when travelling to Central Australia and Uluru, where you may be a considerable distance from major metropolitan medical facilities.

Invitation Letters for Visa Applications

Some international visitors may require a letter of invitation or confirmation of attendance to support their Australian visa application.

If you have registered to attend Shri MahaGanesha Puja at Uluru, Friday 10th to Monday 13th September 2027, Sahaja Yoga Australia can provide a letter confirming your registration and the details of the event where appropriate.
